peckvonhartel was engaged to design the Open Arms Centres for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Queensland. These centres are thoughtfully crafted to offer a supportive environment for returned service people and their families. The design includes hybrid workspaces and consulting suites where veterans can participate in individual treatment programs and group therapy sessions following their discharge from service.

The hybrid workspace model provides flexibility for both staff and veterans, ensuring a balance between private, one-on-one counseling, online councelling and collaborative therapy spaces. PVH’s approach emphasises creating calming, welcoming environments that support wellbeing and recovery. The consulting suites are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to facilitate seamless communication between clients and healthcare providers, allowing veterans to access essential services in a comfortable, familiar setting. The design reflects PVH’s commitment to promoting healing through thoughtful architecture and creating environments that foster community, support, and dignity for veterans and their families.
