The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water was formed in mid-2022 by the Federal Government to provide the legal framework and power to assist Australia to navigate, regulate and protect Australian industries, and natural resources. Sustainability and Innovation are at the forefront of what we do; all seven national sites are currently being designed to achieve Platinum WELL ratings, 6-Star Green Star ratings and the new government partnership ‘Climate Active’ certification. The project team have integrated the majority of the ESD principles from the beginning.

The fitouts have a range of features to improve the environment of their occupants, such as low-toxicity finishes, high-grade air filters and lighting that minimises disruption to the body’s circadian rhythm and avoids eyestrain and associated headaches. New innovative materials and fixtures have been included in the design to support how the staff will utilise the space, ensuring that they feel comfortable and can easily navigate around the work floor. Casper Cloaking film has been included in all meeting rooms to shield and obscure the digital screens and maximise data privacy whilst still allowing the staff to access natural light and feel connected to the workspace.

“Our ongoing work with DCCEEW focuses on employee wellbeing, sustainability in all materials, and a rooted connection to nature in our design.”
